Introduction to Motivational Interviewing for Addressing Substance Misuse Virtual : June 28-29, 2021

Training Location: Zoom Meeting

Webcam and audio are required for participation.

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Programs. SUD contractors have priority for this training.

This virtual training will include an introduction to and hands-on practice of the theory, principles, processes, and skills, based on the latest edition of the Motivational Interviewing (MI) book by Miller & Rollnick (2013) and research-supported best practices for successful implementation.  In addition, it will equip you with concepts and skills to facilitate conversations that promote harm reduction-strategies and long-lasting behavior change among client outcomes related to substance misuse.

Participants will experience guided practice opportunities, which will include real-life demonstrations, video examples, “real-play” and “role-play” small group exercises with feedback.

This virtual training provides 14 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of this virtual training, you will earn a certificate of completion and (if applicable) continuing education credit.
