Trauma Informed Care (TIC) for Substance Use Disorders Virtual: January 24, 2023

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Programs. SUD contractors have priority for this training.

This Trauma Informed Care (TIC) training will provide an overview of Trauma and review the principles of TIC. Specifically tailored for providers working with individuals impacted by Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), the workshop will discuss the effects of Trauma on health and SUDs and apply the principles of Trauma Informed Care to an individual’s plan of care. This evidence-based training will discuss prevention of SUDs and identify risk factors as precursors to SUDs. Finally, the workshop will highlight methods for using TIC to identify and meet individuals’ needs during care for a SUD and identify the role TIC can play in recovery.

This virtual training provides 5.5 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of this virtual training, you will earn a certificate of completion and (if applicable) continuing education credit.
