Texas Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (C.A.L.M.) Training of Workshop Leaders Virtual: June 12-13, 2024

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Disaster Behavioral Health Program.  This is a Train of Trainers (TOT) workshop.

Uvalde Professionals have priority for this training.

This virtual training is for community partners and stakeholders to recognize the warning signs and understand the value of putting time and distance between someone at risk of suicide and lethal means. Reducing access to lethal means, such as firearms and medication, can determine whether a person at risk for suicide lives or dies. This course is about how to put time and distance between someone at risk and the means to harm themselves. It covers who needs lethal means counseling and how to work with people at risk of suicide—and their families—to reduce access.

Please Note: This workshop is not recommended for those who have personally experienced a recent loss by suicide. After registering, you will be directed to take a screening survey to ensure you are a good fit for the training.

Upon registration, you are required to provide the contact information and attest to the following no later than Friday, May 31, 2024. This information can be submitted via the "Submit Contact Information" link on your Centralized Training account.  This information will be passed on to the Texas Suicide Prevention Collaborative and will be used by them for your Instructor profile.
