De-Escalation and Behavior Management Training - May 6 & 13, 2024

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Residential Treatment Center (RTC) Project. Staff of children’s RTCs contracted with the HHSC RTC Project have priority for this training. If you do not work for or with a Children’s RTC contracted with HHSC, you are not eligible to register/attend.

Please note, this training requires 2hours of pre-requisite online modules to be completed (information will be emailed to you), and requires you to attend both 3hr days (May 6th and 13th) in order to receive credit for attending.

Although behavior management techniques are one of the oldest and most widely proven evidence-based practices, many staff and agencies can still improve their standards and practices in this area. This training explores crucial components of communication and how leveraging behavioral approaches can improve outcomes.

By the end of the session, participants will have:

  • Explored Behavioral and Cognitive Theories
  • Increased understanding of the impact communication has on potential escalation
  • Increased understanding of triggers and circumstances that lead to aggression
  • Learned effective responses to mitigate aggression and escalation
  • Practiced effective de-escalation approaches
