This virtual training is being sponsored by HHSC Peer and Recovery Services Programs.
Eligibility Requirements: Registrants must be certified Peer Specialists (MHPS or RSPS).
All roles in the health and human services field have the potential to cause harm to individuals participating in services. And like all other staff, peer support staff may knowingly make a choice that is clearly unethical, such as falsely documenting an encounter with an individual that never happened. More often, however, peer support staff run into trouble because their more personal, less formal role makes it more likely for them to cross boundaries without realizing that they are doing so. This training will introduce peer staff to an Ethical Decision-making Framework to assist them with recognizing and then navigating ethical dilemmas.
