Mental Health Wellness for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (MHW-IDD) for Healthcare Professionals

This self-paced online course was developed to expand the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals (HCM) ­– including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other providers - delivering care for individuals with IDD and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. More specifically, this series discusses evidence-based and effective techniques that can be used to improve the delivery of health care to these individuals, maximize outcomes, and enhance quality of life.

This self-paced online course contains 3 modules and is estimated to take 1 to 1½ hours to complete. Each module is 20-30 minutes in length. You may pause at any time within a module and return to it later, or you may complete it in one sitting.

This self-paced online course consists of three modules as follows:

  • Integrated Healthcare for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

  • Communicating with people with IDD

  • Trauma-Informed Care for Clinical Providers
