This 3-part eLearning series was developed to expand the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals (HCM) – including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other providers - delivering care for individuals with IDD and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. More specifically, this series discusses evidence-based and effective techniques that can be used to improve the delivery of health care to these individuals, maximize outcomes, and enhance quality of life.
This training contains 3 modules and is estimated to take 1 to 1½ hours to complete. Each module is 20-30 minutes in length. You may pause at any time within a module and return to it later, or you may complete it in one sitting.
The course designed for Health Professionals consists of the following three modules:
1. Integrated Healthcare for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
2. Communicating with people with IDD
3. Trauma-Informed Care for Clinical Providers
This course provides 2 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of this online course, you will earn a certificate of completion and (if applicable) continuing education credit.
