Risk Reduction & Overdose Prevention Virtual: June 30, 2026

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Programs. SUD contractors have priority for this training.

This full day training will provide an overview to clarify the core principles of risk reduction and overdose prevention. 

As a result of this training, staff will be able to:

▪ identify overdose risks, recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, and educate clients and families on prevention strategies

▪ use a person-centered, safety-focused approach that honors client autonomy, dignity, and professional boundaries

▪ develop practical and ethical skills necessary for effective overdose risk reduction in clinical practice

• A colleague may be substituted at no extra charge if Centralized Training is notified at least two business days before the training.

• Requests for refunds for an in-person/virtual workshop must be received 72 hours prior to the workshop.
