This virtual training is being sponsored by HHSC Peer and Recovery Services Programs.
Eligibility Requirements: Registrants must be certified Peer Specialists (MHPS or RSPS).
This session is designed to help you build confidence and clarity regarding the role of a peer staff, while also supporting clearer communication with those you work alongside—such as supervisors, case managers, clinicians, or other service providers. Whether you're newer to the field or you are supervising peer staff, this training will support a shared understanding of how peer support can be most effective and distinct within your work environment. In this interactive training, we will use real-life scenarios to explore practices that are aligned and those that are not aligned with the role and values of peer support work. As a result of participating in this training, participants will be able to:
-
Describe the reasoning behind peer-specific approaches in response to real-life scenarios.
-
Clarify the distinctions between the peer role and other roles within the behavioral health system.
-
Communicate more confidently about the peer role with colleagues and collaborators in shared work settings.
