Social Skills Training and Aggression Replacement Techniques (START) In-Person: January 13-14, 2025

This two-day in-person training will examine the scope of youth aggression in schools, homes, the community and institutions. It will provide participants with background and rationale for teaching pro-social skills. The format includes lecture, demonstration, participation and implementation planning. There are no prerequisites for participation in this training.

Aggression replacement techniques are intended to help children and youth improve social skills and decision making to better manage anger and reduce aggressive behavior. It targets the reduction of behavior problems, reduce criminal behavior, increase pro-social behaviors and improve anger control. Aggression Replacement Training®; is a multi-component cognitive treatment that promotes pro-social behavior by addressing factors that contribute to aggression. This treatment features three coordinated and integrated components:

Social Skills Training: Teaches consumers what to do, helping them replace antisocial behaviors with positive alternatives.

Anger Control: Teaches consumers what not to do, helping them respond to anger in a non-aggressive manner and rethink anger-provoking situations.

Moral Reasoning: Helps raise consumers' level of fairness, justice, and concern for the needs and rights of others and how this relate to decision making.

Registration includes the Aggression Replacement Training Manual and the Skillstreaming the Adolescent-Cards. Both will be provided to you at the in-person training.

Cancellations, Substitutions and Refunds Policy:

Live In Person/Virtual Trainings:

• A colleague may be substituted at no extra charge if Centralized Training is notified at least two business days before the training.

• Requests for refunds for an in-person/virtual workshop must be received 72 hours prior to the workshop.

Self-Paced Online Trainings:

• No refunds are offered for self-paced online trainings.
