This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Disaster Behavioral Health Program. Uvalde Professionals have priority for this training.
The experiences of both trauma and bereavement in children and adolescents can have lasting impacts on their mental health and ability to learn. For this reason, it is essential that mental health professionals, educators, and others in helping roles understand best practices for supporting youth with these experiences. This training will explore how traumatic stress and grief reactions present in children and adolescents, as well as examine best practices for providing support. There will also be a brief opportunity to discuss the “cost of caring” and strategies to promote resilience among helping professionals.
