Trauma Informed Care (TIC) for Substance Use Disorders : Virtual - May 20-21, 2021

Training Location: Zoom Meeting

Webcam and audio are required for participation.

This virtual training is being sponsored by the HHSC Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Programs. SUD contractors have priority for this training.

This Trauma Informed Care (TIC) training will discuss the practice of trauma awareness, sensitivity, and responsiveness that provides the foundation to support an individual’s plan of care. It is intended to support the management of substance use disorders (SUDs) as a chronic disease at various stages in the continuum of care. TIC is useful to identify risk factors as precursors to SUDs. The TIC training allows providers to identify issues that have the potential to lead to substance use and misuse, and to address these issues at an earlier stage. This evidence-based training will discuss methods in how to approach individuals, establish trust, and build rapport using TIC as a preventative strategy.

This virtual training provides 7 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of this virtual training, you will earn a certificate of completion and (if applicable) continuing education credit.
