An Overview of Trauma-Informed Care in a RTC Milieu: Crisis Response, Co-regulation, and Behavior Modification Approaches Virtual : August 27, 2021

This virtual training is being sponsored by HHSC Residential Treatment Center (RTC) Project. RTCs have priority for this training.

This virtual training will cover the core concepts of trauma and how it affects information processing, emotional regulation, and behavioral responses commonly displayed in RTC milieus. Additional content will focus on 1) using elements of Psychological First Aid as a method of crisis response, 2) addressing problematic behavior using trauma-informed approaches to behavior modification, and 3) Discussing the importance of co-regulation and approaches for staff support during crises and/or addressing violent/aggressive behavior from clients.

Eligibility Requirements: All RTC direct care staff. Level of education is high school and above. Clinical staff, administrative team, and facilities management personnel are also welcomed to attend.

This virtual training provides 3.25 hours of Continuing Education Credits for the following licenses: Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Peer Specialist, Supported Employment Specialist and Certified Family Partner. Upon successful completion of this virtual training, you will earn a certificate of completion and (if applicable) continuing education credit.
