Values-Based Documentation for Peer Support Specialists Virtual: May 22, 2025

This virtual training is being sponsored by HHSC Peer and Recovery Services Programs.

Eligibility Requirements: Registrants must be certified Peer Specialists (MHPS or RSPS).

This training is designed to strengthen peer specialists’ skills and confidence in creating effective, values-based documentation that supports both organizational accountability and individuals’ recovery journeys. Participants will explore the importance of documentation not only as a tool for meeting Medicaid, grant, and agency requirements, but also as a way to honor and reflect the voices and experiences of the people they support. Through discussion and practical examples, the training will highlight how to use non-clinical, everyday language that aligns with the principles of peer support, ensuring that documentation remains person-centered and strengths based. Additionally, the training will introduce the concept of collaborative documentation, focusing on how it can foster transparency, build trust, and strengthen mutuality in peer relationships. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with strategies to write documentation that is both compliant and deeply rooted in peer values.
